The College of Arts & Sciences is leading research across disciplines with impact for every Washingtonian. We are trailblazers in quantum research and the development of artificial intelligence tools; we also house leading scholars who study the ethical uses of technology. Our faculty are deeply connected to the local community through departments like American Indian Studies and numerous foreign language and literature departments that connect to heritage-language speakers in Seattle and across the globe. We lead in international studies through the Jackson School and shine a bright light on the challenges facing democracy in our top-ranked departments of Political Science and Sociology, among others. Now more than ever, investing in the research being done in the College of Arts & Sciences is vital for our shared future.

 

There’s a lot of work that goes into figuring out how to translate the cutting edge. You need faculty who are researching the cutting edge and learning how to talk about it, and you need a university that fosters opportunities for faculty to explore and try things in the classroom.
