Dean and Divisional Deans

Dianne Harris, Dean of Arts and Sciences
Harris, professor of history, was named dean in July 2021 after serving as a senior program officer for The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and dean of the College of Humanities at the University of Utah.

Gabriel Solis, Divisional Dean of the Arts
Solis, professor of Music, joined the Dean’s Office and University of Washington in 2022.

Brian Reed, Divisional Dean of Humanities
Reed is a specialist in twentieth- and twenty-first-century poetry and poetics and a past Rhodes and Fulbright Scholar.

Daniel Pollack, Divisional Dean of Natural Sciences
Pollack, professor of Mathematics, studies differential geometry and general relativity. He was appointed as Divisional Dean of Natural Sciences in July 2020.

Andrea Woody, Divisional Dean of Social Sciences
Woody is Divisional Dean of Social Sciences, professor of Philosophy, and adjunct professor in the departments of Dance, Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies, and History.
College Administration

Peter J. Denis, Assistant Dean for Personnel
Denis previously served as the UW's Assistant Vice President for Labor Relations, a position he held for almost ten years.

Steve Majeski, Senior Associate Dean for Research and Infrastructure
Majeski, professor of political science, has served as associate dean for research administration and infrastructure since 2010.

Kevin Mihata, Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education
Mihata coordinates undergraduate education, advising, and curriculum across all four divisions of the College and has been at the UW for more than 25 years.

Linda Nelson, Associate Dean for Finance and Administration
Nelson proudly leads the administrative functions of the College and oversees the College’s business office and shared services teams.

Maya Angela Smith, Associate Dean of Equity, Justice and Inclusion
Smith, associate professor of French, is the College's inaugural Associate Dean for Equity, Justice and Inclusion. She is a sociolinguist and her scholarship broadly focuses on the intersection of racial and linguistic identity formations among marginalized groups in the Francophone African diaspora.

Kevin P. Thompson, Associate Dean for Advancement
Thompson joined the University of Washington in 2022 and brings a record of successful fundraising and experience in philanthropy, advocacy, alumni engagement and external relations.

Ellery Wilde, Interim Executive Director of Marketing and Communications
Wilde (he/they) is a collaborative, equity-centered communicator. He is committed to advancing the mission, brand, and reputation of the UW's largest college, both off- and on campus.
