Director of Information Technology

Helen Øland serves as the Director of Information Technology at the College of Arts & Sciences. In this role, she oversees the strategic direction and operational management of the college's IT portfolio.

Helen works closely with university’s IT leadership and departments within the college to align computing resources with the College’s academic and research goals.

Helen's leadership extends to her participation in the Enterprise Technology Board at the University of Washington. This board governs shared IT services, including collaboration tools, servers, storage, and networking, which are essential for the university's operations. Throughout her career, Helen has demonstrated a strong commitment to leveraging technology to improve educational outcomes and streamline administrative processes. She is focused on fostering a secure and efficient computing environment while ensuring that the College’s technology infrastructure continues to evolve in support of research, teaching, and learning.

Prior to joining the College of Arts & Sciences at the end of 2019, Helen was the Assistant Director of Distance Education for Cornell University’s SC Johnson College of Business, Executive MBA Program (EMBA Americas). Her career in IT leadership spans more than a decade.
