Germanics

The Department of Germanics is one of the highest-ranked programs of its kind in the country. It concentrates on the artistic and intellectual traditions of German-speaking countries.  Its goal is to teach students the use of language and its critical function in a global society by widening their linguistic horizons and enhancing their cross-cultural literacy.  Through innovative language teaching and technology-mediated instruction, the Department offers training in critical reading, analytical writing, and the implications of language, literature, and other media as cultural phenomena.

Degrees offered: Bachelor of Arts, Master of ArtsPhD.
