Free Admission to the Burke Museum
UW students are offered free admission to the Burke (otherwise tickets are $22). Take a break between classes and observe over 16 million objects!

Public Opening at the Henry Art Gallery
October 2, 1 - 4 PM
Join the Henry Art Gallery to celebrate the opening of Packaged Black: Derrick Adams and Barbara Earl Thomas and Diana Al-Hadid: Archive of Longings.
The exhibitions will open to the public on October 2, with a celebration from 1-4 PM, to be held in conjunction with the U District Partnership’s festival and the opening of the new light rail station at 44th Avenue and Brooklyn Avenue.

Nyle DiMarco, deaf activist and winner of America's Next Top Model and Dancing with the Stars, inspires audiences to reflect on the value of non-verbal communication and embracing one’s true identity. In a powerful and emotive presentation, DiMarco recounts experiences from his life and career while sharing a deeper understanding of the deaf community, the importance of embracing diversity, and harnessing personal strengths.

Composer, pianist and singer Gabriel Kahane grafts a deep interest in storytelling to a keen sense of harmony and rhythm. For this intimate Meany Center event, he presents a companion piece to Book of Travelers, his musical diary of a cross-country train journey. Kahane’s newest work looks inward on a journey of a different kind. These songs are, by design, introspective — marriage, fatherhood and mortality come to the fore against the backdrop of the pandemic and political turmoil.

Indigenous walking tour of the UW
The 40-page, full color booklet (also available online) tells the story of Indigenous places through an Indigenous community member’s eyes across seven stops on campus. Stops include the Burke Museum, wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ [Intellectual House], Indigenous artworks, the Medicinal Herb Garden, the Ethnic Cultural Center, the Husky Union Building (HUB) — where one of the creator’s father’s works is on display — and Union Bay Natural Area.
