Each year, Forbes magazine recognizes 30 rising entrepreneurs under 30 years of age who are innovating and advancing knowledge across 20 industries. This year, Daniel Kroupa, a Washington Research Foundation Innovation Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Washington’s Clean Energy Institute (CEI), was named to the prestigious list of visionaries in the energy sector.
Kroupa is working to develop a new type of solar absorber that has the potential to create more efficient and less expensive solar panels. The absorber uses perovskite materials that can be “printed” on to more traditional photovoltaic panels. He is in the process of establishing a company to commercialize his work.
At UW, Kroupa is working in the research group of Daniel R. Gamelin, professor of chemistry. Kroupa earned his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Boulder.
