French & Italian Studies

The Department of French and Italian Studies has among the largest number of French majors of any university on the West coast, as well as a vibrant Italian program. France and Italy are core members of the European Union and important players in the global economy, and their cultures are among the richest and most influential in the world, making the study of French and Italian more important than ever. Both languages are among the five most popular studied at American universities, ranking second and fifth respectively.
