Join Arts and Sciences faculty, staff and students to explore programs and special opportunities available to students at the UW. This one-day event is hosted by the UW Office of Admission.

New Huskies '25 Welcome

8 - 9:45 a.m., Alaska Airlines Arena

Kick off your day at the New Huskies '24 Welcome event. Celebrate with other admitted students, hear from current Huskies and campus leaders and get a feel for the flow of the day.

Arrive Early and Start Strong in College Edge / College of Arts & Sciences (Info Session) 

10:30 - 11:15 a.m., Meany Center

As the largest college at the UW, Arts & Sciences has something for everyone. Following a special welcome from Dianne Harris, dean of the college, we’ll help you get a jump start on exploring: 

  • College Edge: a special program for first-year students that begins four weeks before the start of the Autumn Quarter. 
  • Arts and Sciences Faculty: learn about unique College Edge courses and be introduced to faculty that you can study within the years ahead. 
  • Resources: programs and opportunities that ensure your success as a student at the UW. 

Explore the unique courses offered on the College Edge website and prepare to secure your spot.

Network and Explore @ the Burke Museum | Experience the College of Arts & Sciences

1 - 3 p.m., Burke Museum 

Don’t let one of the world’s best-preserved T. rex skulls scare you away!  

In celebration of your admission to the UW, join us at the College of Arts & Sciences’ Burke Museum, the state’s official museum of natural history and culture located right here on campus! As you walk through the 4.5-billion-year history of the Earth, you will:  

  • Learn about dino-myte programs with place-based learning opportunities like College Edge and Humanities First; 
  • Make connections with College of Arts & Sciences faculty and staff 
  • Meet students and learn about their majors and experiences; 
  • Find out about incredible free perks and discounts to explore the arts, on campus and in the Seattle region; 
  • And a free photobooth to preserve your memories of the day!

French & Italian Studies Class Visits | April 24, 2025

Attend one of our classes and get a feel for what it is like to be a UW student!  From French and Italian language to classes about the Italian Mafia in film and the global water crisis, explore the different topics available to study through the Department of French & Italian Studies. 

Virtual Information Sessions

College Edge Program Virtual Information Session | April 23, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.

Join us for a virtual information session about College Edge - your opportunity to arrive early and start strong at UW! This summer program allows incoming first-year students to move to campus early and complete a 5-credit course before Autumn quarter begins.

During this abbreviated online session, you'll learn all about College Edge and have the chance to ask questions during our live Q&A. While we wish we could meet you in person at Meany Hall during Admitted Student Day, we're excited to connect virtually and help you explore this valuable early-start opportunity!

Applied Math (AMATH) and Computational Finance & Risk Management Undergraduate Majors Q&A  | April 23, 4:00 - 4:30 p.m.

Meet with an academic advisor in the Applied Mathematics (AMATH) and Computational Finance & Risk Management (CFRM) majors (and Data Science Options of those majors) to learn about the admissions process, degree requirements, and experiential learning opportunities. Bring your questions to a live virtual Q&A via Zoom!

Chemistry & Biochemistry Information Session | April 23, 4:00 - 4:30 p.m.

Meet with academic advisers and current undergraduates in the Chemistry department to learn about the department and major.

Classics Q&A  | April 22, 4:00 - 4:30 p.m.

Meet with Deborah Kamen, the Chair of UW Classics, to learn more about our courses, our majors and minors, and our Department's study abroad opportunities! Please bring whatever questions you have!

Comparative History of Ideas  Office Hours - Question, Critique, Create | April 23,  1:30 - 2:30 p.m.

Meet with the academic advisor and current undergraduates of the CHID department to learn about the major, experiential learning opportunities such as study abroad programs and internships, a day in the life of a CHID students, and recommended classes for first-year students. Bring your questions to a live Q&A!

Drama Live Q&A (Zoom link) | April 22, 5:00 - 5:30 p.m.

Meet with the academic adviser and current undergraduates from the School of Drama to learn about major options, performance and design opportunities and more. We are here to answer your questions!

Geography Major Information Session | April 24, 4:00 - 4:30 p.m.

Join us virtually via Zoom to learn about opportunities and resources in the Department of Geography and how to declare the major! This information session will discuss the general geography major as well as the geography data science option.

German Studies: Opportunities and Offerings (Zoom link) | April 24, 4:00 - 4:30 p.m.

Meet with the Chair of the German Studies Department .  Come with questions or just curiosity to learn more about the opportunities around German language and culture at UW. 

International Studies Major Information Session | April 22, 4:00 - 4:30 p.m.

Meet with Advisers and students to learn about the major, answer your questions, and learn about all the great resources at the Jackson School! Bring your questions to this session! 

Music Information Session | April 24, noon - 12:30 p.m.

The UW School of Music encourages prospective freshmen, transfer students, and current UW undergraduates to attend a School of Music information session. These sessions provide a great opportunity to learn more about what the School of Music has to offer as well as ask questions about admissions, auditions, or life as a UW music student.

Philosophy Information Session (Register) | Zoom link | April 22, 4:30 - 5:00 p.m.

Interested in studying philosophy but worried it might not be practical? Come meet with philosophy faculty and the undergraduate adviser to discover the skills you'll acquire by studying philosophy. You will also learn what makes studying philosophy at the University of Washington a unique and enjoyable experience. Your questions are welcome!

Statistics Virtual Admitted Students Preview (Register) | April 23, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

Meet with faculty, academic advisor and current undergraduates in the Statistics department to learn about the major.
