Abdiel Jacobsen, graduating with an MFA in dance, found creative ways to share Latin Hustle, their favorite dance, with students and the wider community.

The Husky 100 recognizes 100 UW undergraduate and graduate students who are making the most of their time at the UW.

Earlier in March, the dance department hosted their Dance Majors Concert, in which 11 diverse performances were presented, all choreographed and danced by students. Writer Zinnia Hansen covers the event and interviews the student performers, whose numbers ranged from contemporary dance to modern voguing.

At "UW Dance Presents" Jan. 20-22, two of the pieces are new works grounded in deep investigations of the history and spirit of jazz music.

During choreographer Ronald Brown's residency in the Department of Dance,  undergrads gained confidence while learning one of his high-energy dances. 

Comprised of University of Washington graduate students, the Chamber Dance Company works to perform, record and archive dance works of artistic and historical significance. This year, the company will exclusively perform contemporary works created within the last 15 years.

Abdiel Jacobsen, a graduate in the Department of Dance and a former Martha Graham dancer, found freedom in hustle, which offers a progressive, gender-neutral vision of partnered social dance.
