The UW Dance Program presents an eclectic evening in its annual Faculty Dance Concert, where faculty members choreograph pieces that students perform.

Students looking to develop their singing, acting, and dancing abilities will have a new pathway at the UW beginning in September with a degree in musical theatre.

When a foot injury sidelined dancer Anna Zemke (BA, Dance, Biochemistry), she gave up one dream to pursue another. But she never lost her passion for dance, even as she pursued a second degree in biochemistry.

Dance and drama talents combine for the annual MFA Dance Concert, which leads a busy week of UW arts events. The week also features exhibits, visiting performers, the 50th annual Theodore Roethke Poetry Reading, and much more.

Robert Stacey, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, announced the appointments of Betsy Cooper and Michael Shapiro to Divisional Deans of the Arts and Humanities, respectively. Both Cooper and Shapiro have served those positions in the interim since January, 2012.

Drama leads this week's busy UW arts schedule, if by a nose, with the Undergraduate Theater Society's staging of the Cyrano de Bergerac story and the School of Drama's production of "Pentecost" - a play about art, which ought to count double.

As part of the Rite of Spring Centennial Celebration the University of Washington joined forces with Compagnie Marie Chouinard to once again bring this groundbreaking work to the stage.

The Dance Program's new online course, Understanding Dance, combines online lessons and discussion forums with assignments that get students dancing and attending performances. 

As part of a Dance Program course on teaching methods, UW undergraduates traveled to Yakima to teach dance to high school teens involved in the GEAR UP Program.
