Eight students graduated in June 2025 with their Master of Fine Arts degrees and concluded their programs by presenting their culminating work in the MFA + MDes Thesis Exhibition at the Henry Art Gallery. Just a few months later, these graduates are already making impressive moves in their artistic careers.

Burke Smithers (BDes 2024) discovered a passion for typography at UW that led to award-winning work, international experience, and the launch of his own type foundry, Nightjar Type. His designs reflect personal interests in nature and climate—showing how type can be both expressive and deeply personal.

Each of the College's 2025 medalists received a special gift — a glass bowl, handblown in the UW School of Art + Art History + Design.
