Sixty entering freshmen launched their UW careers in León, Spain through a new study abroad program offered by the College.

The UW Wind Ensemble spent spring break in China, performing for appreciative audiences around Beijing, finishing with a memorable sold-out concert at the National Center for the Performing Arts.

Spain’s King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofiá participated in the May dedication of a new UW center housed in León, Spain, along with UW leaders, supporters, and students.

To provide more opportunities to interact with locals, French and Italian Studies' program in Italy now includes volunteer work and stays in both Rome and a small village in southern Italy.

The UW's field school at Tel Dor, Israel, took center stage recently when a student unearthed a very rare gemstone, carved with a portrait of Alexander the Great, that dates back to about 230 BCE.

Journalism students spent the summer interning at English-language newspapers abroad--in Sierra Leone, Indonesia, and China--through an unusual scholarship in the UW Department of Communication. 

The Husky men’s basketball team took a special five-credit course designed specifically for them and tied to an 11-day basketball tournament trip to Greece.
