International student Jueqian Fang (Photomedia, Cinema Studies, 2014) studied science in China but discovered a passion for art at the UW.

It's rare that half a dozen faculty, representing all three divisions in the School of Art, are up for promotion in the same year. Making the most of this opportunity, the School has organized a lecture series featuring all six faculty.

Five UW graduate students recently developed The Pivot Project, aimed at combating human trafficking. Their weapon of choice? Design. The project won the 2013 Design Ignites Change Idea Award and is a finalist in the Industrial Designers Society of America’s Ideas competition.

Working closely with a Seattle artist with a prosthetic left arm, undergraduates majoring in industrial design tackled an unusual challenge in class last quarter, developing innovative designs for prosthetics.
